CESI Associate Fellow Dr Olinda Santin has been awarded an ESRC Impact Accelerator Account award to develop a digital resource to support families affected by cancer in Vietnam.

Using a participatory co-design method used to develop digital cancer resources in the UK (Santin 2019) the team developed a written prototype of a digital support Vietnam-Cancer Caring Coping (V-CCC) (Santin 2020/Jenkins 2020/ Ho Thi 2020). V-CCC is a 7 module resource offering specific training to ICC in cancer self-management and carer skills (e.g. moving/feeding/washing), support and signposting via videos, case studies, interactive examples regarding, symptom management, nutrition, spiritual support, psychological support, daily management, medication management and social issues.

This project included a series of co-design workshops over 18 months across multiple regions in Vietnam. These workshops have included approximately 100 health care professionals, carers and patients in 5 regions of Vietnam. In March 2020 we finalised the written of a potential digital support to meet these requirements in a national workshop.
