New Suicide Prevention Research Network for Northern Ireland (June 2020)
CESI Fellow Dr Karen Galway at Queen’s University Belfast and Professor Siobhan O’Neill at Ulster University have collaborated to establish a new Suicide Prevention Research Network for Northern Ireland.

CESI Fellow Dr Karen Galway at Queen’s University Belfast and Professor Siobhan O’Neill at Ulster University have collaborated to establish a new Suicide Prevention Research Network for Northern Ireland. This endeavour has been awarded seed funding via an ESRC Impact Acceleration Partnerships Award based at Queen’s and matched funding from Ulster University.
The network seeks to foster and enhance existing links between academics, community-led organisations including Family Voices Forum and statutory and professional bodies. The network aim is to progress priorities for suicide prevention research, locally, nationally and internationally, while also providing a hub for developing research capacity and encouraging collaboration. We have begun to establish our operations and recently promoted the network at the NI Assembly All-Party Group for Suicide Prevention meeting in April 2020. We are already gathering memberships and will be hosting events over the coming months.
Contacts for the Network are k.galway@qub.ac.uk and s.m.oneill@ulster.ac.uk. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to get in touch.
