CESI is pleased to announce that Jonathan Breckon, Director of the Alliance for Useful Evidence at Nesta, has been appointed as CESI Visiting Fellow.

The Alliance champions the smarter use of research and evidence in social policy and practice, through research, ideas, training, and advocacy. Formerly Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Jonathan has had policy and research roles at the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), the British Academy, and Universities UK.

Jonathan helped set up the Evidence Exchange project, funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Carnegie UK Trust, which looked at ways of learning across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  He has been a board member of the Society for Evidence-Based Policing, What Works for Children's Social Care,  and the Cabinet Office What Works Council. He will be collaborating with Queen's University Belfast and the Campbell UK Trust on ways to create more links between evidence intermediary organisations - such as the What Works Centres - across the UK and beyond.
