AFT

Argyll Fisheries Trust (AFT) was formed in 1995, and covers mainland Argyll (Linnhe, Lorn, Loch Fyne, Kintyre and the Kyles of Bute) and the islands of Mull, Islay, Jura and Arran.

While the majority of the Trust's work to date has mainly focused on migratory fish species such as salmon and sea trout, the Trust has also undertaken scientific research on a range of other freshwater fish species, notably pike, brown trout, char and lamprey. There are a number of factors in th riparian, freshwater and marine environments that have impacted wild fish populations in the region, such as invasive non-native species, and AFT continue to work with the relevant bodies to improve management practices and conserve this important natural and economic resource.
