12th European Meeting on Glial cells in Health and Disease

The entire Fitzgerald group participated at the 12th European meeting in Bilbou. Marie, Yvonne and Denise presented their current work as a poster presentation. Denise gave an oral presentation on how 'Regulatory T-cells directly promote myelin regeneration in the central nervous system'.

The entire Fitzgerald group participated at the MS-frontiers conference. Samara, Yvonne and Denise presented their current work as a poster presentation and Marie gave an oral presentation on how 'Regulatory T-cells enhance oligodendrocytes differentiation in vitro'

The entire Fitzgerald group participated at the 12th ICN conference. Thomas, Marie and Yvonne presented their current work in posters.

Gordon MYELIN Research Conference
March 2014, Ventura, California, USA

Thomas O’Hagan, a 2nd year PhD student in The Fitzgerald Lab, attended the Gordon Myelin Research Conference in California, USA. The conference is a biannual meeting of the world's leading myelin biologists where Thomas presented his poster entitled 'Secreted factors of CD4+ regulatory T cells promote CNS myelination."

British Neuropathology Society Annual Meeting
March 2014, London, UK

Dr. Yvonne Dombrowski presented her work in a talk entitled “Toxin-mediated FoxP3 cell depletion: Impact on remyelination?”at the British Neuropathological Society meeting in London form 5th-7th March 2014.

I&I TRG Young Scientist Symposium
February 2014, Belfast

The entire Fitzgerald group participated in the on 25th February 2014 at Riddel Hall, Belfast. Thomas, Marie, Ulrike and Samara presented their current work in posters and Yvonne gave an oral presentation on her work on The role of regulatory T cells in CNS remyelination. Denise gave a career lecture for young researchers about Networking in science. The keynote speaker, Prof. Burkhard Becher from ETH Zurich, who was invited and hosted by Yvonne and Denise, was deeply impressed by the excellent science he encountered at QUB and had a “fecking good time” in Belfast (which he explained the direct, legitimate tranlsation of to be a 'large quantity'!).

MRC Neuroinflammation workshop

Both, Dr. Fitzgerald and Dr. Dombrowski attended the MRC Neuroinflammation workshop on 10th February 2014 in London.

Eimear presented a poster on her work entitled “Ageing impairs peritoneal but not bone marrow-derived macrophage phagocytosis” and Yvonne gave a talk about 'Impact of toxin-mediated FOXP3+ cell depletion on de-/remyelination in vivo?'.
