Research Ethics

Guidance Notes for completion of Research Ethics Application Form

Research involving human participants must comply with specific ethical requirements which have a legal status.

For all research involving human participants, the Institute requires that before the research commences:

  • You are aware of your responsibilities and the need for any appropriate training, e.g. good conduct in research, compliance with the University’s Policy on the Ethical Approval of Research;

  • you have identified and secured the necessary resources to complete the research;

  • you have ensured that all necessary regulatory and ethical approvals are in place;

  • you have put in place appropriate monitoring and reporting procedures.

Accordingly, all research proposals involving human participants, material or data must receive ethics approval from the Institute of Theology’s Research Ethics Committee.   The Reseach Ethics Application form is available to download from the Theology Student SharePoint site.
