My Vision for a Sustainable Future Schools Challenge
Vision for a Sustainable Future Schools Challenge
In November 2021, the UK will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26. This important event brings together leaders from across the world to assess progress in addressing climate change and establish a future course of action.
Climate change and its consequences are already being felt, including melting icecaps and raging forest fires. Scientists believe that it is vital to limit global warming to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels. Failure to do so could have devastating consequences for people and the planet.
Queen’s Management School and the Linen Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) are issuing a call to young people in Years 8 and 9:
Help us to raise awareness of climate change by creating a poster, comic strip, or collage featuring their ‘Vision for a Sustainable Future’. Perhaps your submission will show a future where we work together to create a vibrant, prosperous world. Alternatively, it could illustrate two scenarios: one where we successfully act to address climate change and another where we don’t…
In particular, we would be keen to see entries that show the role of business in tackling climate change, for example, through innovation or the use of cleaner technologies. You could also choose to refer to one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Entries can be on an individual or group basis, with first, second and third prizes awarded in each category. Following the challenge, winning submissions will be showcased in a virtual gallery.
Please download the challenge poster here.
- The challenge is open to young people in Years 8 and 9 from across Northern Ireland.
- Entries can be on an individual or group basis and may take the form of a poster, comic strip, or collage. An optional lesson plan for teachers is available for download here.
