The modules taught on this programme provide a comprehensive insight into investing and risk management. Projects require use of the Bloomberg terminals in the Trading room ensuring we are familiar with industry leading software. The degree is professionally accredited and prepares us well for a career in risk management or finance.
I now know how to use software to analyse economic problems. As a person who does not have an economic background, this programme is challenging, but fortunately, all economic lecturers are very nice and provide me with a lot of support. Also, the School provides two PhD students as tutors for economic students to improve our research quality.
The lecturers are all fully qualified actuaries with industry experience, incorporating this into their lectures. I also gained practical experience in the Trading Room learning to programmes and use software like SuperVal, STATA, Excel VBA and Bloomberg Terminal. The course includes a 1 year placement at an actuarial and consulting company.
