Welcome to the Chemistry at Work Microsite!

 

Find out more about careers in Chemistry, and how to get there! With opportunites to hear from major employers across many areas of the chemical sciences, both on-demand, and during live sessions!

Details for each of the live events are available within each of our exhibitors pages - so be sure to check them out using the links on the right!

In this year's ONLINE Chemistry at Work, supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry, secondary school students of all ages (and their teachers, parents, and guardians!) are welcome to join us, and explore the microsite, where you'll find pre-recorded presentations, and a host of other exciting content, which will explain how the study of chemistry can be applied to a range of industrial and research areas, while the live Q&A sessions will provide you with an opportunity to ask our exhibitors about your future career in chemistry, and how to get there! To find out more about our live events, check out the details below, or the individual exhibitor pages using the links at the top-right of this page - you'll be able to find the specific dates and times for their live sessions, and register for the events!

If you have any questions for our exhibitors, you'll be able to submit these before the event using an online form, and of course, you'll also be able to ask your questions during the live events themselves!

WELCOME TO...
STUDENTS

We hope that Chemistry at Work gives you lots of ideas and examples of how chemistry is used in everyday work, and about the careers that you could be involved in in the coming years!

This is not an ordinary exhibition - you have an opportunity to spend time learning about these areas in your own time, and then ask questions to the people that created this content, finding out more about these careers, and helping you to plan your future.

Please take part and enjoy yourselves! You'll learn just how important chemistry is to society and for your own comfort and well-being. Chemistry at Work might also give you ideas for projects you could do at school, as well as to make sure that you're studying the subjects you need to enter into the world of chemistry. All of our exhibitors are ready to answer your questrions, and provide additional careers advice, and highlight how you can choose to start a career in chemistry after your GCSEs, after your A-levels, or after a degree.

We're really looking forward to meeting you at the live Chemistry at Work events!

WELCOME TO...
TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND GUARDIANS

The Royal Society of Chemistry is committed to the promotion of the study of chemistry in school at all levels. As part of these activities, they produce informative content in relation to the study of chemistry and chemistry careers, and a free copy of the journal “Education in Chemistry” is sent to every secondary school in the United Kingdom.

The Society runs Symposia for teachers at various locations throughout the year, raising awareness of current issues within both education and chemistry. These “hands-on” events, aimed at teachers wishing to update their chemical skills, take place in a range of formats, including industry study tours - short residential courses for teachers, which provide the opportunity to visit industry and see chemical processes in action. Teachers attending these tours also have the opportunity produce curriculum materials to be used in the classroom with their pupils.
