In front of colleagues and family, Professor Mac Síthigh delivered a fascinating and timely inaugural lecture entitled Technophilia, Technophobia and Technobabble: the relationship between law and innovation, which outlined the landscape of the exciting field of law and innovation. With warm introductions from Pro Vice Chancellor Adrianne Scullion and Head of School Professor Robin Hickey, Professor Mac Síthigh drew on a diverse range of scholarship, including his book Medium Theory, to explore concepts of technophilia, technophobia, medium theory, smart cities, the sharing economy and the connection between law, infrastructure and innovation. Having previously held posts at Newcastle University, University of Edinburgh, University of East Anglia and the University of Toronto, Professor Mac Síthigh now holds the first Chair of Law and Innovation at Queen’s University Belfast. It is with great pleasure that the School of Law welcomes Professor Mac Síthigh.
