CO Mapping the Southern Galactic Plane
Star forming molecular clouds are cold and dense regions in interstellar medium (ISM). Carbon monoxide (CO) is the second most abundant molecule in molecular clouds and also the easiest one to observe. CO studies can shed light on many different fields in astronomy from star formation to galaxy evolution. We are mapping Southern Galactic Plane using Mopra Telescope. Our survey’s resolution is the best so far for the covered region. Also, we are focusing on molecular filaments and supernova remnants in our data set.
