Current research project

Ultrafast Lensless Imaging in the Extreme-Ultraviolet

The resolution of structural studies of samples is limited by their sensitivity to damage. This is a particular problem for biological samples which can be damaged easily. Smaller, more accessible table top laser systems could provide a source efficient enough to allow single shot imaging on the microscale or even nanoscale. This could be a better tool for synchronised experiments such as when the sample is pumped. A pumped system with high resolution would allow for an investigation into the damage evolution of samples over time. The goal of my PhD is to develop and test the lensless imaging system in a single shot arrangement.

Biography

Originally from Manchester, I moved to Belfast in 2014 to start my undergraduate degree here in Queen's University Belfast. I love the city and the university and have really enjoyed my time here so far. During my time at QUB, I have played for the Ladies Rugby team and have been an active member of the committee at various times which has definitely kept me busy.
