A delegation from Shanghai University visited Queen’s on Tuesday 12 June to explore opportunities for international collaboration. Prof. Qing NIE (Vice President of Shanghai University) and Prof. Zhangyou PENG (Director of Academic Affairs Office) were interested in the successful training systems for engineering students at Queen’s, particularly those from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (SMAE) and School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS). The Dean of Internationalisation, Prof. Stan Scott, along with Dr. Chi-Wai Chan and two PhD students from SMAE led a tour to showcase the state-of-the-art facilities in the Ashby Building to the delegation. These included: Student Design Centre, Computer Rooms, Engineering Workshops and Laboratories, as well as Lecture rooms and Theatres. After the tour, the delegation was very impressed with the facilities and the “hands-on teaching approach SMAE is adopted to teach the students and facilitate their learning”. We look forward to working with Shanghai University in the future.
