Academics, industrial practitioners and research bodies gathered at Queens on 13th & 14th June to take part in the Manufacturing Beyond the Horizon Conference. This event marked the official opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Facility at the Northern Ireland Technology Centre. this is a £6.5M State of the art advanced manufacturing demonstration, collaborative research and development facility which has been supported by the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy, Innovate UK and the Aerospace Technology Institute through the SCENIC project (Supply Chain Enablement for Increased Competitiveness). The conference also covered the launch of the Centre for Intelligent Advanced Manufacturing Systems (iAMS) which is a Pioneer Research Programme established by Queen’s with the purpose of researching, developing and demonstrating innovative technologies that enable and underpin the rapidly evolving digital manufacturing world. The conference programme included a diverse range of talks and presentations related to advanced / intelligent manufacturing systems and Industry 4 - the fourth industrial revolution.
