Amy Wong
Current Research Projects
  1. Co-design a Roadmap and Feedback Strategy to Support Assessors in Making Judgements of Student Performance
  2. Embedding the Development of Digital Literacy Skills within Undergraduate and Postgraduate Curricula across Disciplines at Queen’s University Belfast (DLP@QUB)

Details of any grant/funding connected with the research

1. ESRC IAA Covid-19 Rapid Response Fund (£3,000)

Summary of the research

  1. This project aims to facilitate assessors’ understanding of the factors that influence their judgements of student performance in both academic and practice settings. We co-design a ‘fit-for-purpose’ CPD roadmap with assessors across disciplines to identify the key areas and best practices that will facilitate them to make defensible judgements of student performance. The co-designed roadmap will be disseminated across disciplines at QUB and external organisations that offer professional placements for students.
  2. The DLP@QUB is an international collaboration with The University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia. It aims to establish a proof of principle in embedding standalone digital literacy skills modules within the study modules to develop student digital literacy skills. This project will support the development of discipline and/or profession specific digital literacy needs and requirements, and inform the broader debate on digital literacy in higher education.

What is your ideal Research outcome?

A research outcome that will assist in the development, transition and evaluation of new teaching and learning practices to enhance student learning experience in higher and health professions education.

Principal Investigator: Professor Christine Brown Wilson

Why did you choose your current post and why at Queen’s?

The Research Fellow role at Queen’s is of particular interest to me, as I would be able to apply my skills and experiences in health professions education research to develop proposals, deliver research activities and disseminate outcomes in an international context.

How have you been supported at Queen’s?

Writing research grant applications, building professional networks, and promoting my research.

In what ways have you developed at Queen’s?

Become more confident in leading research projects across disciplines.

Can you describe the postdoctoral community in the School and at Queen’s?

Very supportive of sharing ideas and resources.

Where do you hope your current post will lead?

A lectureship with teaching and research opportunities.

Anything else you would like to add or advice to new Postdocs?

Networking and make the most out of your postdoc!
