BSc (Hons) Nursing (1-year top-up)

This one-year programme is designed specifically to allow nurses from anywhere in the world to bring their skills up to degree level in one year.

Is this programme for me?

Changes in health trends, policies and technologies create the necessity for health professionals to continuously re-define and improve their skills.  Designed for registrants who need to top-up their academic profile to degree level, our Nursing top-up programme will allow you to study in your own field of expertise, deepening your knowledge and expanding your career progression opportunities.

How is the programme structured?

The BSc Nursing top-up programme provides a range of module options at Level 3 to enable you to construct a bespoke pathway of study to meet your personal and professional needs.  Studying full-time, you should normally complete six Level 3 modules in one academic year (three in each semester).

The modules you can choose from are listed here.  Please note: modules will run each year subject to viability.  Many modules offer blended learning and varied assessment methods, to suit a variety of different learning styles.

All students on the BSc Nursing top-up must complete the following 4 modules:

  • Research and Development in Clinical Practice SPN 3001
  • Leading and Facilitating SPN3041
  • Person Centred Assessment SPR3040
  • Health Assessment NMP3002

What entry qualifications do I need?

Candidates must normally hold a first level professional qualification, for example in nursing or midwifery.  Note: Some modules require a specific professional qualification.  Candidates must have 120 CATs points at Level 1 and 120 CATs points at Level 2 for entry to Level 3 study. Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements should contact the School for advice.
