Outstanding success for AEL at the National Student Media Awards, SMEDIA 2021

At the recent SMEDIA awards Queen's students came out on top taking home the largest haul of awards.

Out of 260 nominees for 43 contested categories, Queen’s students and recent graduates won in seven categories, including Radio Documentary of the Year, Radio Production of the Year – News and Current Affairs, Iriseoireacht trí Ghaeilge – Raidió and the award for Journalism Relating to the Environment.  The competition is open to students from every college across Ireland and is judged by leading media industry professionals. 
Manager of Oxygen.ie Ciara Mahon said: ‘This year's standard was phenomenal and we were so impressed with the hard work of these students this year, especially as there was a big jump in entry submissions. I applaud each and every one of you who participated in the Smedia’s 2021.”  Congratualtions to all our students and alumni on the well-deserved recognition of your talent and hard work.
