Internships Summer 2017/18
Proposed Project Title:
Data analytics for a retail, manufacturing or university application
Prof. Roger Woods
With increasing amounts of data being generated by individuals, organisations, retail organisation, universities and governments, there is a plethora of information from which interesting conclusions can be drawn. This involves being able to seamlessly link a variety of data sources from different sources and in varying formats and applying open source machine learning algorithms together.
The ECE cluster has recently established a server platform with the innovative XDP platform from Analytics Engines Ltd.; this allows the user to link such varying data sources and then be able to apply open source software to analyse the resulting information.
The purpose of the project is employ the software to a relevant application from the retail, manufacturing or university application.
- Determination of a suitable application from a retail, manufacturing or university environment
- Identification and linking of the relevant data sources
- Creation of the Big Data study
- Development of series of suitable analytical studies
The scheme is open to all EEECS Undergraduates (apart from students on the BIT degree pathway and students who are due to graduate this summer)
