USA opportunity for all HAPP Students

George Washington University, Washington DC

*New* exchange opportunity for HAPP students in George Washington University. This a one semester exchange (either S1 or S2) available to all HAPP students. Two exchange places are offered each year.  Priority will be given to students taking Single Honours in Politics, International Politics and Conflict Studies, or Politics, Philosophy and Economics; however the exchange opportunity will be opened up to other HAPP students should these spaces not be taken

All QUB Undergraduate Exchange Students coming to GW are required to purchase the GW Student Health Insurance Plan, and will be responsible for all costs associated with that coverage.

As provided by GW

  • Students on GWU exchange will pay the cost of QUB accommodation (£1,806.86 QUB a semester as of 2019) during their exchange.  This will be paid to QUB rather than George Washington University.  Please note that for those who would not normally pay accommodation, this does not mean an additional expense.

Cost of Living

  • Books & supplies $ 665
  • Local transportations $540
  • Personal expenses $ 675
  • Medical Insurance: $ 1,644.  Students are required to take out the GW health insurance plan.  Those who wish to opt out of GW health insurance coverage must submit an online waiver and show proof of alternative medical insurance that meets GW’s minimum standards.  This opt-out must be completed by GW’s designated deadline for the semester of study.

For Visa purposes you need to show you have enough in your bank (or a combination of bank accounts) to cover accommodation and board and incidentals.  These amount are usually higher than you will actually spend.  GW recommends $ [TBA] dollars (includes air flights).
