Institute of Irish Studies

Institute of Irish Studies

The Institute of Irish Studies celebrated its 50th birthday in March 2015.  It was the first of its kind to be established in the world.  Today it is one of the leading centres for research-led teaching in Irish Studies and is an internationally renowned centre of interdisciplinary Irish scholarship.

In the five decades since the Institute's first Director, Professor Estyn Evans, aimed to "build a gateway to Irish Studies", the Institute has provided a home for Emeritus Professors, research fellows and students alike, making an enormous contribution to the interdisciplinary field.

Our programmes include MA in Irish Studies, PhDs and an International Summer School (25 June - 20 July 2018) which offers a bespoke short study programmes and interdisciplinary Seminar Programmes.  To find out more click on the link below.
