Professor Peter Maxwell
Clinical and genetic epidemiology of chronic kidney disease with a particular focus on genetic predisposition to diabetic nephropathy and end-stage renal disease (requiring dialysis or renal transplantation).
Additional research interests in decision making and conservative care of end-stage renal disease (in conjunction with School of Nursing colleagues).
Intravenous fluid prescribing and simulation (in conjunction with Centre for Medical Education colleagues).
Professor Maxwell is open to PhD applications in the fields of;
Large scale genomics of chronic kidney disease including genome-wide and epigenetic association studies
Clinical epidemiology of chronic kidney disease
Decision making and conservative management of end-stage renal disease
Medical education projects with focus on intravenous fluid therapy
