Public outreach & key achievements
Dr Johnston is a practising GP in a deprived area of Belfast and is currently engaged with Prof Nigel Hart in developing in developing a "Deep End GP' initiative to support practitioners in similar areas. Her own PhD won the ASME Research Paper of the Year Award in 2016. In 2020 she won the AMEE Best Simulation Research Paper for her work theorising simulation using a postmodern framework. She is a Deputy Editor of Education for Primary Care and an Editorial Board Member for the British Journal of General Practice. She has worked to raise awareness of women's health issues, including menopause and endometriosis, including several outreach and education activities and publications.
