Academic Development Fellowship
Queens University Belfast (QUB) have been awarded a Wellcome Trust ISSF (Institutional Strategic Support Fund) grant to provide clinical trainees, with the opportunity to enhance their training by conducting research projects in either ophthalmology or respiratory (including critical care) medicine. Each “Academic Development Fellowship” (ADF) project will last 4-6 months and is designed to provide a unique perspective on clinical research and valuable practical experience in a cross-institution collaborative project.
The projects are led by QUB, but fellows will be partly embedded within either the Moorfields Eye Hospital or the Royal Brompton Hospital. The successful candidates will engage with a QUB supervisor who will co-supervise with a colleague in the IoO/NIHL, so each fellow is supported by two mentors.
Applications are open to those who have already been accepted into the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA) postgraduate deanery. Funding will cover travel, accommodation and project running costs up to a maximum value of £35,000.
