The Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) offers a premier quality research programme leading to a MPhil/MD or PhD  in a State of the Art Research Centre that has an international reputation in precision cancer medicine. The Precision Cancer Medicine theme underpins active research programmes in Gastroinstestinal Cancers, Genito-urinary Cancers (including prostate), Genomics and Bioinformatics, Molecular Pathology/Epidemiology, Ovarian/Breast Cancer, Radiation Biology and Stratified Medicine.

The student receives an unrivalled training experience in cutting edge technology in a rich research environment and undertakes a research project under the direction of one of a cadre of experienced researchers.

For all new PhD  students, a comprehensive induction course provides training in all aspects of laboratory work, data analysis and management. Two modules entitled Cancer Biology andTranslational Cancer Medicine (10 CATS each) are also available to new postgraduate students, providing them with significant knowledge in these two domains. These modules are delivered by a research active national and international faculty. New and continuing students also attend a series of lectures and master-classes from invited speakers who are leaders in their field. Journal clubs form part of the training programme and students have significant opportunities to develop their presentation skills through a series of Research and Educational Fora which prepare them for presentation of their research at international conferences.

Business and entrepreneurial skills sessions are also an important aspect of the programme and there are strong linkages between CCRCB and the biotech/pharmaceuticalsector, including the presence of a number of biotech/diagnostic/pharma companies in the building.
