This is a collaboration event supported by the Occupational Psychology division of the British Psychological Society Northern Ireland.  The InteRRaCt Lab (Queen's University Belfast) and AQR International have come together to showcase the latest thinking in the field of 'Mental Toughness' and the implications on Occupational Psychology from the eyes of both academics and practitioners.

The Mental Toughness concept is an important concept in the world of people & organisation development.  It provides users with an accessible and well-evidenced explanation of why people & organisations respond to events the way they do.  It is closely related to qualities such as character, resilience, grit, etc and is defined as:

"A personality trait which determines, in large part, how people respond to challenge, stress and pressure, irrespective of their circumstances."

This is an excellent opportunity for coaches, psychologists, HR & OD professionals to enhance their professional development. The conference, organised by Dr Kostas Papageorgiou, describes research and case studies which provide new and valuable insights into stress management, development practice and links to concepts such as Flow, the Dark Triad and the Big 5 concept. Uniquely the conference features most of the leading researchers in Mental Toughness including Professor Peter Clough, all presenting together for the first time anywhere. Practitioner inputs come from Doug Strycharczyk, AQR International, Zoe Sweet, Academi Wales, Dr Samineh Shaheem, Hult International Business School and Lorna Lawless, AQR Ireland. The sessions promise to be interesting, provocative and even gently disruptive - challenging long-held beliefs.

This event is aimed at psychologists, students and practitioners alike.  It will be particularly relevant if you have an interest in evidence-based practice in the following fields:

  • Learning and Development
  • Talent Management
  • Coahing and Mentoring
  • Psychometrics
  • Organisational Development
  • Consultancy
  • Culture Assessment and Development

We are delighted to announce that early bird tickets will be on sale until the extended deadline of 30th September.

Enhance your professional development by learning about one of the most fundamental factors in people development today - Mental Toughness.  A not to be missed event for coaches, psychologists, HR and OD professionals alike.
