Study with us – Psychology for all
We want our School to be representative of our community and host events each year which target our potential students.
Male Student Information Session
In June 2021, we hosted an Information Session for male students as part of our SWAN initiative. We were joined by four male post-primary schools. Prior to the event, students received a short personality test and the first session explained how to score and profile personality and how to develop strategies to work more productively and to cope better.
Prof Aidan Feeney, Dr Paddy O’Connor and Dr Gary McKeown explained their career paths into psychology. There was an also an interactive session from our current students on their experience on the BSc Psychology course and their career plans.
Careers Teachers’ Information Session
We hosted a virtual Careers Teachers’ Information Session with Psychology and Careers teachers from 15 schools and colleges in Northern Ireland.
Dr Paul Wilson spoke about ‘What psychology is and why it is a science’ and there was a talk from Dr Chris Gibbons on ‘Bridging the gap – differences in pedagogy and student support between school and university’. Finally, Dr Katrin Dudgeon presented her work around ‘Employability and transferable skills in psychology’.
These events were well received by students and teachers, and we are keen to provide support to anyone interested in studying Psychology At Queen’s.
