John Shayegh - Teaching Fellow

John is a new teaching fellow who conducted his PhD thesis research at QUB. This involved analysing the political rhetoric of nativist populist politicians and news media through a social identity framework, as well as designing a novel social psychological intervention to challenge negative attitudes associated with nativist populism.
His research specialisms include social identity theory, political psychology, populism and intergroup prejudice. He is a mixed-method researcher, employing both quantitative and qualitative techniques, with a particular focus on qualitative methods.
