BPS accreditation success
Our professional body the British Psychological Society (BPS) visited the School virtually in April this year to assess two of our programmes – our Undergraduate programme (BSc Psychology) and our conversion programme (MSc Psychological Science). This latter programme is a one-year postgraduate course, essentially equivalent to our full three-year undergraduate degree which is open to graduates of other disciplines.
We were delighted that after a rigorous and exhausting 2 day virtual visit which involved the visiting panel meeting with groups of students, employers and staff, both programmes were successfully accredited. In addition, they awarded two rare commendations for our work providing academic and pastoral support for students and also for supporting student employability.
Our Director of Education for Undergraduates, Dr Paul Wilson commented, “I’m absolutely delighted with the outcome of the accreditation visit. It is a real tribute to the hard work of all my colleagues in the School and particularly their commitment to supporting our students academically and pastorally and in helping them make the transition to the graduate jobs market after they graduate. It also reflects the dedicated work of our students, and in particular our student representatives, who work with us in partnership to ensure the continuous development and enhancement of our programmes.”
