Don Paterson (b.1963, Dundee, Scotland) is a poet, editor and musician. He is Professor of Poetry at the University of St Andrews, and since 1996 has been poetry editor at Picador MacMillan.
Don is the author of collections of poetry including Nil Nil (Faber, 1993) which won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, God's Gift to Women (Faber, 1997) which won the TS Eliot Prize and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, and Landing Light (Faber, 2003) which won he Whitbred Poetry Award and an unprecendented second TS Eliot Prize. He has won numerous other awards and accolades for individual poems, collections and translations.
As well as poetry, Don has published collections of aphorism, criticism and has written for the radio and the stage. He continues to perform as a jazz guitarist.
