Part-Time Teaching Fellow in Applied Behaviour Analysis

The School is seeking to appoint two Part-Time Teaching Fellows who will contribute to the delivery of a high quality Master's programme in Applied Behaviour Analysis between January and September 2017.

Hourly basis, no. of hours to be agreed on appointment to post, minimum commitment 400 hours
Term: Spring 2017-End Summer 2017

The positions will entail on-line tutoring, online assessment, dissertation supervision (which may be at a distance) and student-centred administrative responsibilities for the Applied Behaviour Analysis MSc programme, plus additional contributions as agreed on appointment.


  1. Deliver high quality teaching on our MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis programme.
  2. Plan and manage own on-line tutoring and teaching-related administration under general supervision of the Head of School/Director of Education, the Pathway Director on the ABA Programme and in collaboration with other colleagues working on the MScABA.
  3. Prepare and deliver a range of teaching activities on the Semester 2 MScABA modules, including on-line tutoring/lectures and tutorial plans and the two on-campus full-day workshops.
  4. Develop lecture/tutorial outlines and revise module guides in accordance with the learning objectives already set.
  5. Be responsible for the record-keeping associated with teaching and the preparation of teaching materials.
  6. Organise and maintain the resources, information and management of modules’ presence on the Queens Online (QOL) and Moodle virtual learning environment portals.
  7. Maintain contact and support students on a weekly basis through relevant online discussion boards as well as through e-mail and by offering on-line meetings as required. (The School endeavours to support all staff in managing student expectations around online communication and in responding in ways [e.g. via QOL or in class] that do not always require individual email responses.)
  8. Set and mark on-line the coursework for all students, within an agreed timeframe and in accordance with the University Conceptual Equivalents marking scheme. (including, where applicable, the provision of written feedback on student assignments through QOL platform).
  9. Respond to student queries submitted via email/discussion boards within a reasonable time period. (The School endeavours to support all staff in managing student expectations around online communication and in responding in ways [e.g. via QOL or via the Moodle] that do not always require individual email responses.)
  10. Liaise with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met.
  11. Work closely with designated academic members of staff as necessary.


  1. Be Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®).
  2. Have, or be about to obtain, a MSc in a relevant area of study.
  3. Commitment to the development of high quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
  4. Teaching experience, using a range of teaching methods.
  5. Evidence of quality teaching at UG and/or PGT level (e.g. student evaluations).
  6. Experience of on-line teaching
  7. Experience of marking assignments.
  8. The ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  9. Evidence of ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  10. Effective interpersonal skills.
  11. Ability to teach modules and supervise dissertations on the Applied Behaviour Analysis programme.


  1. PhD degree in relevant area
  2. Research expertise in Applied Behaviour Analysis
  3. Evidence of quality teaching at UG and/or PGT level (e.g. student evaluations).
  4. Experience of tutoring and lecturing at university level or equivalent
  5. Experience of assessing different types of assignment at university level or equivalent
  6. Experience of on-line teaching
