Postgraduate research student Lauren Lamberton has had an article published in the highly regarded journal Child Abuse Review, exploring online support to parents and using the case example of Netmums. It is included in a special issue of the journal, entitled ‘Digital Technology, Child Abuse and Child Protection’ (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/car.v25.5/issuetoc).
Lauren says: ‘Online interventions to support parents are positive in terms of their accessibility, the lack of stigma involved for parents in seeking and receiving help, and their cost effectiveness. While many organisations are now providing online support to parents and children we actually know very little about how organisations and staff understand their role in both supporting parents and safeguarding children. This article adds to this growing evidence base.
The research informing this article was completed as part of the requirements for the Masters in Social Research in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, and I’m pleased that I am developing this work through my current doctoral studies.’
