Dr William McClune

RESEARCH FOCUS

Dr McClune’s Research addresses the development of scientific literacy and its impact on an individual’s ability to understand science in the world beyond the classroom. His work explores the development through science education of the capability to read and engage critically with science presented in the news media.

This research has included the development of the ‘Science Newswise’ programme. This approach to using news resources in the classroom to develop foundational intermediate and higher order critical reading skills.

The objective of the research activity is to promote research informed teaching.
