Presentation of PGCE certificates and prizes

School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work colleagues were delighted to welcome back our 2018/19 Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) graduates and their guests at the Elmwood Hall at Queen's on 27 August. The event marked the students' achievement in successfully completing the course and included the presentation of their graduation certificates and prizes from both the School of SSESW and the General Teaching Council for NI (GTCNI).
Head of School, Professor Carl Bagley (back row), addressed the graduates and guests and Director of the PGCE programme, Dr James Nelson (middle row, right), outlined some of the highlights of the past academic year. Guest speaker Linda Ervine (front) gave a heartfelt and wonderfully inspiring address to the newly qualified teachers about her own educational journey and their potential to make a difference for the pupils they will teach in the coming years.
Graduates were then called up one by one to receive their prizes and certificates from Linda. The prizes awarded by GTCNI were presented by their Chief Executive Sam Gallaher (middle row, second right). We join Linda Ervine in wishing all the new teachers the very best for their teaching careers and look forward to seeing them inspire generations of pupils.
