Internet, Printing & Photocopying

Internet at the conference venue will be available in the open access area, which is located in the basement of the Music Building.  [Login details will be given on request]

We regret that, due to a large number of delegates, we will not be able to offer printing and photocopying facilities at the conference venue, but those may be accessed at the McClay Library, which is just opposite the School of Music. For information on how to access the Library, please see below.

If you intend to distribute handouts, we would kindly ask you to come prepared. We are expecting an upper limit of around 150 delegates and, although it is very difficult to estimate how the audience will distribute themselves amongst the parallel sessions, we recommend that you prepare at least 25 copies.

McClay Library QUB  Internet, printing and photocopying facilities at the McClay Library

To access the McClay Library, please inform the staff at reception that you are attending a conference at Queen’s. You will then be issued with a day pass. Photocopying cards can be purchased from a machine in the Short Loan collection photocopying rooms (please enquire at the Borrower Services Desk about this). The cards cost £2.00 and come with 70p credit. The cards can be topped up and last indefinitely. Photocopying services at the library are charged at 5p per A4 page.

For access to Internet and printing facilities, please enquire at the Borrower Services Desk on the ground floor or at the Humanities/Special Collections enquiry desk on Floor 1. You will be issued with a temporary account for which you can buy print credit. Please note that the account lasts only for one day and all credit must be used or it will expire.

IT and Sound equipment

Every room is equipped with a PC (with Internet access), PowerPoint and overhead projectors, sound system and a keyboard instrument. Sound can be played from PC (PowerPoint or other). CDs and DVDs can also be played from the PC.  The PCs currently use Windows 7 operating system and Microsoft Office 2007.  Please note: Internet access is only available on the in-house computers.

If you require any additional equipment, please provide details at registration (the screen will come up at the 'Checkout' stage) or email us.

A note to Mac users. If you are preparing your presentation on a Mac and only bringing it on a portable storage device (USB stick, DVD, CD-ROM, etc.), you may wish to send it to us in advance of the conference to ensure that there are no compatibility issues.
