ICE-Ireland: A User’s Guide

£20.00

The ICE-Ireland CD-ROM provides pragmatic and discourse annotation to the spoken component of the ICE-Ireland Corpus, and a prosodic transcription to 100 of the 300 texts. Each text is presented in its own consecutively numbered file in both .doc and .txt formats. The CD-ROM also combines those texts into single, composite zone files for all the texts from the North, or the South, or combined as whole. The corpus includes single composite text-category files, either for the whole of Ireland or in separate files for the North and South. Users may thus pick and choose those types and quantities of text which best suit their research enquiries.

The creation of the ICE-Ireland Handbook was supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Bibliographical details for published works and statistical information about writers contributing to the written text categories of the corpus are also provided.

SPICE-Ireland: A User’s Guide also provides guides to the prosodic, pragmatic and discourse annotations systems applied to the spoken data and discusses the reasons for many of the innovations, with numerous examples.
