As you join this large organisation it will take time to settle in, find your way around and find out what you need to know. In all cases your manager or other experienced staff should help you with any immediate questions you may have.Welcome and Orientation
Your Staff Smart Card (SSC) is your staff ID and should be carried at all times when on campus. An appointment should be made with Human Resources Reception as soon as possible, preferably on your first day, to obtain your Smart Card. Contact Human Resources Reception on extension x3044 (or 028 9097 3044 from outside the University) to make an appointment.
As well as the induction provided locally by your new department you will also be invited to attend an "All New Staff Induction" a half-day session organised by Learning and Development who will contact you directly to confirm the dates.

The probation procedure applies to all new staff and provides a mechanism whereby managers meet with new staff, set expectations and establish specific objectives. The procedure also provides a means of performance review and feedback. Visit the Probation Webpages to access the Probation Regulation relevant to your grade for full details.
