Senior Finance Leaders

The Role: We are recruiting to the following Senior Finance leadership roles:
Head of Corporate Accounting and Reporting you will ensure the delivery of a professional financial management, financial planning, management accounting and reporting services across the full scope of the University business/activities;
Head of Commercial Accounting you will ensure further enhancement of the provision of professional financial services in support of existing and planned growth in commercial activities throughout the University, to include Finance leadership in the implementation and operation of the University’s innovation Centres as part of the Belfast Region City Deal programme;
Head of Finance Business Partnering you will provide leadership in the delivery of consistently high-quality services to the full range of stakeholders that Finance supports across the University.
The Person: As a member of the Finance Directorate Management Team, you will work closely with the Director of Finance and other senior managers, to provide leadership on the delivery of consistently high-quality professional services across the Finance Directorate, with the aim to deliver the ambitions in the University’s Strategic Plan: Strategy 2030. You will be a highly experienced and motivated professional accountant with a track record of delivery in a senior role, who will thrive in an exciting, complex and demanding environment.

- Financial Systems Manager

The Role:
We are recruiting an experienced professional to provide a key role in the development and maintenance of all Finance systems and business processes across the University including, the ongoing development of the Queen’s University Finance System (Qfis) and other core Finance systems.
The Person:
You will work closely with the Head of Financial Systems and Business Support to support the delivery of the Financial Systems Development Programme and provide strong leadership to the Financial Systems Team and the financial systems user base across the University. You will have a degree with a substantial element of Accounting or Information Technology, and/or have gained a Professional Accountancy Qualification from one of the main accounting bodies.

- Accountant

The Role:
We are recruiting a number of Commercial/Management Accountants. In these roles you will be required to provide a comprehensive, professional financial management service in support of financial planning, financial management accounting and reporting activities across all aspects of University operations including Faculties and Professional Services. Post-holders may also have responsibility for Treasury, investment and cash flow management. Successful candidates will have a remit to produce timely business critical information and analysis, assist accurate decision making, risk assessment, planning and to provide rapid response troubleshooting when necessary.
The Person:
You will have a Professional Accountancy Qualification and will have gained significant relevant experience in an accounting/finance environment, working with large and complex accounting/management information systems and have staff management experience.

- Assistant Tax Manager

The Role:
As a member of the University’s Finance Team, you will support the Tax Manager in providing a professional service across all aspects of the tax affairs of the University, and its subsidiary companies. You will work on all forms of tax, with a principal focus on VAT and customs and also support work on Corporation Tax and some aspects of payroll tax.
The Person:
You will have some Taxation experience and, in the role, you will be supported to develop and maintain knowledge of relevant tax legislation.

- Assistant Accountant

The Role(s):
We are recruiting to a number of roles of Assistant Accountant. As a member of the Finance Team, you will support the Commercial/Management Accountants to provide professional financial advice and support to all relevant stakeholders, across all aspects of University operations, with the aim to support the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan: Strategy 2030. You will provide a comprehensive, professional financial management service in support of financial planning, financial and management accounting and reporting activities across all aspects of University operations, producing timely business critical information and analysis to assist planning and decision-making.
The Person:
As a minimum, you will be a part-qualified Accountant in ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent professional exams, and actively working towards full qualification. You will also have significant relevant experience in an accounting/finance environment including, the preparation of financial and/or management accounts, budgets, estimates and business plans.

Accounting Assistant

The Role:
We are recruiting to a number of accounting assistants and you will have the remit to provide a comprehensive, professional financial management service in support of financial planning, management accounting and reporting to designated functions across the University’s operations, including Faculties, Professional Services, and the Belfast Region City Deal Programme. The scope of this role will be varied and involve support for all aspects of University operations.
The Person:
You will have gained an Accounting technician qualification (or equivalent) or have a BTEC HNC qualification (as a minimum). You will also have gained significant relevant experience in an accounting/finance environment that includes working with large and complex accounting/ management information systems, preparing financial management information, financial analysis/reconciliations and providing advice to inform decision making.

- Online Store and Income Supervisor

The Role:
As part of its digital transformation strategy Queen’s is investing in new technologies including e-commerce platforms to transform student and customer payment journeys. In this new permanent role you will be responsible for the management of a new online store for the University, as well as the collection and reconciliation of income from a new incoming payment platform for both domestic and international tuition fee payments.
The Person:
You will have experience of e-commerce systems and high-volume transaction processing gained in a financial setting and you will have a high level of attention to detail and ability to complete complex financial reconciliations. You will enjoy building relationships and delivering training across the organisation, to empower Schools and Directorates to generate and maintain their own storefronts in the online store.

- Finance Assistant

The Role:
We are recruiting to a number of posts with the successful candidates assigned to work as part of a team in a professional, modern and forward-facing Finance Department. The post-holder will provide financial support services to assist the University in achieving its ambitious Strategy 2030 objectives. Duties may include support for research/other grant finances, reconciliation of control accounts, processing of journals, investigation of variances, procurement support, payment processing and improving financial awareness of those using Finance processes.
The Person:
You will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), to include English Language and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2 Accounting or equivalent finance-related subject, and at least three years demonstrable relevant work experience, to include a minimum of 18 months relevant finance work experience, in areas set out in the job specification.

- Training and Service Liaison Officer

The Role:
You will assist in the development of the Directorate’s communication and stakeholder engagement strategy to ensure Finance teams are customer facing, reflecting Finance’s commitment to deliver an excellent service Internally and to external stakeholders. You will support the development and delivery of a comprehensive Finance Training Programme resulting in improved financial awareness and knowledge across the University and will co-ordinate the maintenance of the Finance website, Intranet and Finance Staff Hub.
The Person:
You will have experience of developing and supporting training programmes and in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders with a focus on customer service and communications.
