Honorary Degrees

Staff are reminded that the closing date for submitting nominations for the award of Honorary Degrees in 2014 is Friday 13 September.

Nominations should be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office using the appropriate pro forma available from http://www.qub.ac.uk/home/HonoraryDegree.  To assist the Search Committee in the associated selection process, it is important that the pro forma be completed as fully as possible. 

You may nominate more than one person and are encouraged to do so.  Anyone nominated should not be approached and all names forwarded to the Search Committee must be treated as strictly confidential.

Horizon 2020 Security Information Day

Derek Gallaher, UK National Contact Point for Security, will deliver a presentation on European research funding opportunities for the security sector on Tuesday 10 September.

The event will take place at ECIT and will run from 10.30am to 1.00pm.

Mr Gallaher will be available for some one-to-one meetings with attendees who may wish to discuss a proposal concept.

Participants wanted for children’s decision making study

The School of Psychology is looking for children aged 7 - 9 years old to take part in studies on child development. They are interested in children’s decision making. Children taking part are required to visit the child-friendly facilities with a parent or guardian and complete some simple tasks.

Sessions will take no more than one hour, and a fixed payment of £5 is provided to cover local travel expenses. Parking will be provided if required. For more information, please contact Eimear O’Connor at childresearch@qub.ac.uk or 028 9097 5655.

Dufferin Public Lecture

The School of Nursing and Midwifery will hold the inaugural Dufferin Public Lecture on Thursday 12 September.  Entitled Quality Palliative Care in Long Term Care: Knowledge to Action, the lecture will be delivered by Professor Mary Kelley.

The lecture will take place in the Canada Room at 6.00pm, light refreshments will be served from 5.30pm.  If you are interested in attending, please email helen.mcgarry@qub.ac.uk by Friday 6 September.

One month summer membership

Autumn Children’s Activity Programme 2013
Queen’s Sport Autumn Activity Programme is offering new activities for Toddlers and Babies, including Baby Yoga, Ballet, Little Scrummers plus many more. Enrolment opens Wednesday 21 August. Splash ‘n’ Swim enrolment opens on Monday 2 September. All children’s activities commence the week beginning 9 September, except Gymnastics.
