Latest Q in 60 video

An anti-cancer drug has been proven to be equally as effective in treating the most common cause of blindness in older adults as a more expensive drug specifically formulated for this purpose.

The results of a two-year trial, led by Queen’s scientist Professor Usha Chakravarthy, and published in The Lancet on Friday 19 July, show that two drug treatments Lucentis and Avastin are equally effective in treating neovascular or wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD).

Alumni Family Days - Join in

Over the past few years, the Development and Alumni Relations Office has organised several Family Fun Days that have regularly attracted up to 60 people. The events are aimed at Queen’s alumni with children who want to learn about the exciting research taking place at Queen’s.

In 2012/13 Fun Days took place at Armagh Planetarium and Queen’s Marine Laboratory.

The Development and Alumni Relations Office is now looking for fresh ideas for 2013/2014 to promote other Schools and subjects in a fun and interesting way for the next generation of Queen’s alumni.  The Office is able to offer planning assistance and promote the event to allow Schools to engage with alumni and beyond. If you are interested in discussing this, please contact Adele Ward, Events and Reunion Officer on 028 9097 5289.
