Judging Panel

The Judging Panel is made up of staff from across the University as well as a student representative. The Panel will assess all nominations against the award criteria.

Marion Matchett

Marion Matchett


Marion is Chair of the Judging Panel. A member of Senate, the University's Governing Body, she is a former Chief Inspector of the Education and Training Inspectorate.

Paul Wallace

Operational Representative

Paul is responsible for the development and maintenance of the University gardens, producing aesthetically pleasing green space for students, staff and visitors. Paul has worked for the University for 34 years.

Academic Representative

Michael is Dean of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Chloe Dugan

Chloe Williamson

Clerical Representative

Chloe works as a Buyer in the Procurement Office within the Finance Directorate. She is responsible for the procurement activity across the three Faculties AHSS, MHLS and EPS and specialises in the procurement of laboratory equipment. Chloe was one of last year's winners at the Staff Excellence Awards.

Professor Denise Fitzgerald

Research Representative

Denise is a Principal Investigator in the Centre for Experimental Medicine. She joined Queen's in 2009 and started a research group that is working on interactions between the immune system and the brain, particularly in neurological conditions like Multiple Sclerosis.

Patricia Reilly

Academic-Related Representative

Patricia is School Manager in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, and has worked at Queen's for 20 years. She was one of the winners at the inaugural Staff Excellence Awards.

Connor Veighey

Student Representative

Connor is President of Queen's Students' Union, representing the voice of Queen's 24,000 students, having taken up post in July 2018.

Richard Robinson

Academic-Related Representative

Richard is Head of Accommodation and is responsible for providing over 3,400 bed spaces to students, and 76 apartments for staff. He manages a team of over 100 staff and has been with the University for 10 years.

Trevor Sewell

Technical Representative

Trevor is the Technical Services Manager in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, responsible for laboratories, workshops and instrumentation. He has worked at Queen's for 36 years.
