Dr. Emer McAleavy was born in Belfast and graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering. During her undergraduate studies, she worked for the QUB Polymer Processing Research Centre in the polymer characterisation laboratory. After graduation, she worked as a design engineer for Wrightbus, including working on development projects such as the London hybrid double decker and the Dublin double decker bus. She completed her MSc in Advanced Composites and Polymers at the University of Ulster and joined the ACRG Queen`s University Belfast in October 2014 as a PhD student, conducting research on ‘Improving the Performance of Thermoplastic Composite Structural Joints’.
She is currently a Research Fellow for the COMINO2 project, investigating thermoplastic composite injection overmoulding.
