AFBI Library Online

Making and Receiving a Request

Making a Request

Requests may be placed online for material not held by the Library.  You can do this in two ways:

  • using Place request on My Acccount;
  • using AFBIConnect, the Library's online resource locator.  Click More Options in AFBIConnect to access the online request form.

Always check Search@AFBILib to make sure that the item you require is not already held in the Library before making a request.  Please ensure when completing the form that the details are as full and accurate as possible.

Inter-Library Loans

Requests for material not held by AFBI or the Library at Queen's are processed as inter-library loans (ILLs). Our main supplier of ILLs is The British Library. The quickest way of obtaining photocopies from The British Library is via the DRM Lite service.  Items requested this way are usually emailed to you within 48 hours.  Before you can view your article you will need to have registered for this service with The British Library. Registering is free, just takes a few minutes and will only need to be done the first time. Once you have registered, you can use your username and password to access articles that have been supplied to you. You can register at any time by clicking here.

An electronic voucher is automatically deducted from the AFBI allocation for each request made.  AFBI must still manage ILL usage within its overall annual allocation.

  • Restrictions are placed on some material, e.g. theses and rare books, by the lending library requiring that it be used in the library only.
