Library training

Training is available to all AFBI Library users in the form of the training programme outlined below.

In addition, we can provide individual or small group training covering search strategies, using databases and Endnote. We can help you to set up current awareness email alerts to keep you up to date with published research in your field of interest. We also welcome any queries you may have on copyright, open access and metrics.

Introduction to Endnote

When: Thursday, 3rd May 2018 9.30am to 11.30am 
Where: Biometrics training room, Newforge

This introductory course will be taken by Deborah and Patrick from the AFBI Library and is suitable for beginners or for those who would like a refresher on Endnote basics. Course content includes:

  • Creating and backing up your Endnote library
  • Creating and importing new references
  • Organising your references
  • Using Cite-while-u-write in Word
  • Endnote Online

Web of Science has incorporated new features in December 2017.  To make the most of these new features, come along to our session covering:

  • Finding and accessing OA content via WoS
  • Setting daily alerts
  • Making the most of WoS navigation

Google Scholar Tips and Tricks

This session will cover how to use advanced searching techniques to get the most out of using AFBI Library Online, including:

  • Finding theses and other types of resources
  • Applying search limits to refine your results
  • Requesting items not held in AFBI Library
  • Saving results and exporting results to Endnote

Interested in having your article requests delivered directly to your inbox?  This session will show you how to register with and use DRM Lite.

What is DRM Lite?

  • The British Library delivers pdfs of print articles directly to your email.
