Peter Kardos, MD, is head of Group Practice and the Department for Respiratory Medicine at the Red Cross Maingau Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany. He specializes in internal medicine, allergology, and sleep medicine. His areas of interest include chronic cough, asthma, COPD, diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, allergy, and clinical pharmacology.
Dr. Kardos studied medicine at the University of Vienna, with internships and training in internal medicine and allergy in Germany . He then lectured at the University of Bonn, before joining Maingau Hospital in Frankfurt.
He has participated in a large number of national and international clinical studies as an investigator, principal investigator or as a member of the Steering Committee, and has been involved in the design of several large national and international multicenter studies.
He is the first author or co-author of several German evidence-based guidelines, and is a member of numerous national and international organizations, including Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pneumologie, Deutsche Atemwegsliga, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Allergie und Immunitätsforschung, the European Respiratory Society, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and the American Thoracic Society. Dr. Kardos is co-editor of Pneumologie, and has authored over 60 scientific articles in national and international journals.
