Course Objectives

• Explore the meaning of ‘culture’ and what it means to you
• Identify key stages of cultural adjustment and possible effects of culture shock
• Develop sensitivity to ways in which cultural differences may affect your interactions with international students
• Better understand some of the customs and cultural norms in the countries highlighted as ‘key markets’ in the universities Internationalisation strategy (e.g. China and Malaysia)
• To promote a positive approach to cultural sensitivity within the institution
