This workshop will help you develop a strategy for communicating your research. It will look at the classic academic forms of communication – publishing articles/books and presenting at conferences and how to use these effectively. The workshop will also look at how to communicate the impact of your research to a non-academic audience. This will include the traditional media, new media and community engagement activities. At the end of the workshop you will draw up your own communication strategy.

  2. Being a productive writer
    - tips and strategies for effective writing
  3. Conferences
    - making good use of conferences
    - presenting with confidence
  4. Non-academic communication
    - the range of options
    - newspapers, radio, TV
    - professional journals
    - new media, blogs, twitter, ResearchGate
    - community engagement activities
  5. Your communication strategy.
