New and existing research students and staff using radioactive sealed sources and x-rays in research, focusing on external radiation exposure and practical protection measures.

  • Regulatory requirements to ensure all exposures are kept as low as reasonably practicable.



Aims/Aimed at


This course aims to outline the requirements of the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 and the Ionising Radiation Regulations (NI) 2000.  It is aimed at those using radioactive sealed sources and/or x-rays in their research.
