Having the courage to have effective, difficult conversations is the key to achieving a successful outcome from those situations.  These conversations can vary greatly from personal to performance issues, however the approach and models covered in this workshop to support the formulation of conversations can be used in all scenarios.  The workshop will examine why preparation is key to having successful courageous conversations and provide you with tools and practice to hone these skills.  This session will also explore how and why conflict arises in the workplace and impactful strategies to manage conflict.

Overview

This session will build your skills and confidence in having difficult conversations and equip you with tools, models and techniques to master them.  There will be time to practice these skills in a scenario based session.  The afternoon session explores the nature of conflict in organisations, the reasons for conflict and how you can apply strategies for understanding conflict and resolving it.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand why we respond to these conversations like we do
  • Introduce tools and models to support you to effectively prepare for and participate in conversations you deem difficult.
  • Practice preparation and conversational skills and receive feedback to help you refine these skills.
  • Explore what conflict is and how it can escalate
  • Introduce strategies to understand and overcome conflict
  • Action planning for application in the workplace.
