Using the File Download Content Type

The File Download content type allows website content editors to easily add large files for visitors to download. The Media Library has a strict limit of 5 MB (5,000 KB) to encourage website editors to optimise their files and to provide a better online experience for website visitors. 

Sometimes there is a need to add larger files to a website and this is where the File Download content type comes in. The File Download content type allows files up to 40 MB (40,000 KB).

Before uploading any file to the CMS, website editors are encouraged to ensure that any files are optimised appropriately to reduce the file size as much as possible. This is important as it will have a direct impact on page load times and the user experience of website visitors.
