Framework

The Framework Project

The CMS Team in conjunction with the Marketing Team have been working together to deliver a new web Framework that will allow the Queen's website site to be more robust and future proof.

This is not a redesign project, although the look of some Content Types will change slightly. The goal is to underpin the current design with an industry standard Framework that will be used as a core development tool in all future design and development.

One of the major benefits of the project will be rapid development of new and innovative content types to meet the needs of our CMS users.

What is Foundation?

Foundation is a responsive front-end framework that has been in development since 2011. Foundation provides a responsive grid and HTML and CSS UI components, templates, and code snippets, including typography, forms, buttons, navigation and other interface elements, as well as optional functionality provided by JavaScript extensions.

You can find out more here - https://foundation.zurb.com/

What are the benefits?

Sites built on Foundation work great on multiple devices including desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and mobile phones because it is a responsive framework that uses CSS media queries and a mobile-first approach.

What you need to do to

We are in the process of migrating all existing CMS content types to Foundation - you can see before and after examples of content types using the buttons below.

Before DTP Content Types

When we apply Foundation to your site all your existing content should work as expected, however, if there are any issues you can log them through the IT Sitehelpdesk.
